That's right, spudniks, direct from the frontlines is the new Hirohito and the Bomb livejournal. Easier to update and more readable than our Myspace blog.

Now, for the latest news from Okinawa! General MacArthur's ghost and his hordes of reanimated frankensteinian octopi have stolen the master copy of Pinin' For The Fjords, our album, and we need your help. We've resurrected Albert Einstein, Lise Meitner, Australian Field Marshall Sir Thomas Blamey, and Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, but WE NEED TROOPS!

Sign up today to rescue the album of the century! The only way to rescue this album is to tell us how many of you want to buy it. Then we know how many to order. If you indulge us, we will get lbert Einstein, Lise Meitner, Thomas Blamey, and Isoroku Yamamoto to sign your copy, as well as the fine men and woman of the band!

If you don't order, you won't get it!

The front lines need propoganda, and what better way to gather propoganda than with partial nudity!

Send us a picture of your cleavage with our name, "Hirohito and the Bomb" written somewhere on it! No nipples, no faces, just cleavage. Grand prize winner gets to appear on countless promo flyers, free entry to any HATB show, a signed copy of "Pinin' For The Fjords" (when it's released), and a kiss on the cheek from your favorite HATB band member!

Comment on our Myspace with the picture to win: http://www.myspace.com/hirohitoandthebomb

See you in Tokyo!

You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory [27 Mar 2006|05:24pm]

[ mood | sad ]

It's cool that we got to play that show as Nikki's backup band two weeks ago. I think it was his second to last show ever. He died after his show in New York on Saturday night. He was gonna fly back to Europe the next day. We were supposed to do a West Coast tour as his backup band. I'm glad that I got to meet him, and I'll probably think about the night that I got to play in his band for the rest of my life. If I wasn't too smart to have kids, it would be one of those things that I tell my kids about for the rest of my life.

I danced myself right out the womb [06 Dec 2005|07:43pm]

Hey, I wasn't quite aware there were people alive now that still listened to bands like T.Rex, Richard Hell, and the VU. It's very comforting to know.

And the Replacements. Was just listening to androgynous. And in order to actually contribute to this community, now I'll tell a story I heard about the Replacements. So their drummer, every once in a while westerberg or somebody will insult him or something. Upon hearing this, he left for two to three days usually. They didn't have any clue where he'd go. But he'd come back three days later. In fully-fledged clown apparel. He would refer to himself as Papi, in third person. Other than that he remained silent, and just stared. And a couple of days later he'd return completely normal, like nothing happened.

Speaking of, has anyone gotten Chris Mars' solo album? I've heard it's really good, and saw it at a record store once, but didn't have the cash.

like the name of this community. of course from the undertones song.

i was flippin though a book called "Punk" which was enormous. I was saddened to see NO MENTION of The Sonics, probably the first band chronologically worth a shit. I was surprised to see The Stilettos and Andy Warhol in there more than these Pacific NorthWest Greats.

Anyway, I went looking for a Sonics CD, as my homie with the black spinners left town. Shockingly enough, the only CD I could find was almost $30, and an import from the UK. Does anyone know where I could find a better deal?

If you could have wrote any song ever, written by anyone, what would it be?

I'd pick either;

'Imagine' - John Lennon = I know some people might think it's typical and cheesy to pick this one but the words are just incredible. It is perfect. Imagine if there was no religion or country, how much peach could there be in the world?

my second is:

'teenage kicks' - The Undertones = Not just because it's one of my favourtie songs and also lyrically brilliant, but I would have loved to have affected a great man like John Peel like this song did. One of the most amazingly musically minded people ever to walk this earth and I would have been proud to affect him so strongly.

But what about you?

Rick x.

Fuck the desert island album question, what is your desert island band? I mean, you have everything in their collection, including full lengths, singles, greatest hits, box sets, everything. For me, I'll say The Who. There's plenty to listen to, plus there's such a diverse array of music. Power pop? Yup. Arena rock? It's there. Rock opera? Also there. Odds and Sods just for fun, as well as the collection where Pete throws Abbie Hoffman offstage is entertaining. Also, there may be enough discs to tie together to maked some sort of liferaft to escape the island. Wow.

We all have guilty pleasures, or bands we just don't feel comfortable telling other people we like. What are your top five? Here's mine:

1: The Eagles
2: Aerosmith
3: Mighty Mighty Bosstones
4: Dio
5: Steely Dan

There's more. Also, should Cheap Trick be one? I love them so much but a lot of people put them down. Yeah...

july 10th - upstate new york
july 12th, 14th, 15th, 16th - northeast united states

>>PLUG<< [28 Mar 2004|12:02am]

[ mood | bouncy ]

Sorry guys, shameless plug alert...

For anyone who likes a bit of Punk Rock (influences: the jam, the clash). My cousin is a member of a Sheffield based band called Acacia Avenue. They are performing at The Corporation, Sheffield on Friday the 28th of May. Tickets are now available! Fantastic band live (& I'm not just saying that because of family ties!) Check out the Official Acacia Avenue website >>HERE<< & the NEWS section for information on how to get a ticket! (you will also find samples of their music on the website as well).

So if your in the Sheffield area be sure to check them out!!

stuff that sucks [11 Mar 2004|06:41pm]

from the dead milkmen website "This morning Dave Blood is no longer with us. David is my brother. Since the breakup of the band David has never really found his niche in life. My brother was a smart clever and talented person. Inner peace has seemed to elude him for the last many years. Sometime last night David chose to end his life. He left a note that I don't know all of what it said,he was not elaborate-but he said he just could not stand to go on any longer. Our mother passed away at the end of January and maybe David just had had enough. There will be a memorial service in a few weeks. I will try to remember to come to this board and post it.It will be in the Delaware County area. Please pray for the respose of my bother's soul; that he now has the peace that seemed to elude him most of his life. I want to say that one of the shiniest parts of David's life was being a Dead Milkman and having that claim to fame. And the fans who appreciated the talent and time that went into making the band rise above the ordinary-thank you all for making my brother feel and know that he was indeed somebody. Kathy"
